SOMOS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP (Seniors)
Deadline: October 14, 2016
-Utah senior of Hispanic/Latino descent.
-Demonstrate leadership in school, community, and/or service in other organizations that promote, enhance, or strengthen diversity.
-Making satisfactory progress toward the student’s program objective (degree, diploma, or certificate).
COMCAST LEADERS AND ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP (Seniors)
Application: Application is available on-line; students who are nominated will receive a code from their nominator to access the application.
Deadline: November 7, 2016 (Portfolio to THS)
December 1, 2016 (Application to Comcast)
-Student must be nominated by a high school counselor or Principal.
-Plan to attend college, university, vocational or technical school in the U.S.
-Demonstrate leadership abilities in school activities or through work experiences.
-Strong commitment to and involvement in community service.
-GPA of 2.8 or higher.
-Full-time high school senior.
-Cover page: name, photo, name of scholarship.
-Leadership, service, and work experience: include dates, total hours, and brief explanation.
-Copy of your official transcript, including ACT scores.
-2 letters of recommendation.
-All information must be typed and submitted in a paper or plastic binder (not 3-ring).
WENDY’S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN AWARD (Seniors)
Deadline: October 3, 2016 by 3:00 PM

-Male and female student-athletes who exhibit excellence in the classroom, on the playing field, and within their communities.
-“B” grade average (3.0 GPA)
-Must participate in at least one of 27 sports.
Award: Award details; the first 1,000 completed applications will receive a $10 Wendy’s gift card.
YOUNGARTS PROGRAM (15-18 years or grades 10-12)
Deadline: Oct. 14, 2016 by 11:59 PM
-Cinematic arts, dance, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, writing
-Citizen or legal resident of the United States or U.S. Territories
Award: $10,000 cash award, master classes with accomplished artists, become eligible for nomination as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts
HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP (Seniors)
NATIONAL and STATE (Two separate applications)
Deadline: Oct. 25, 2016 by 5:00 PM Eastern Time
-Be enrolled full-time as a high school senior in the United States, progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2015 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation.
-Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution).
-Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.
-Co-curricular/community service activities.
-Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
-Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required).
-Be a United States citizen.
-Utah scholarship requires Utah citizenship.
–Award: National – $25,000 (106 awards)
State – $10,000 (7 awards)
COCA-COLA SCHOLARSHIP (Seniors)
Deadline: October 31, 2016
-Current high school (or home-schooled) seniors attending school in the United States (or select DoD schools).
-U.S. Citizens; U.S. Nationals; U.S. Permanent Residents; Refugees; Asylees; Cuban-Haitian Entrants; or Humanitarian Parolees.
-Anticipating completion of high school diploma at the time of application.
-Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution.
-Carrying a minimum 3.00 GPA at the end of their junior year of high school.
-Based on leadership, achievement, and character
Award: $20,000 (150 awards) and Community College stipends that vary from $1,000-$1,500 (200 awards).
