AMERICAN FIRE SPRINKLER ESSAY (Seniors)

Criteria:

-Applicants are put into a random drawing
Award:  $2,000 (10 nationally)

PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY (Grades 5-12)

Deadline:  Nov. 8, 2016
Criteria:
-High school students who are making a difference through volunteerism.
-Legal resident of one of the 50 states of the United States or the District of Columbia.
-Must have engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred at least in part after September 1, 2015.
-Must complete an application and submit certification to Miss Black or Mr. Hamm by November 8, 2016.
Award:  School–certificate
State–$1,000 & trip to Washinton, D.C. (2/state)
National–$5,000 (10/nation)

UTAH STATE SENATE VISUAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION
(grades 9-12)
Deadline:  November 23, 2016

Application & Guidelines: 2016-2017 Utah State Senate Visual Arts Scholarship Competition
Criteria:
-Seeking 2D, original visual art images of the exterior of the Utah landscape (state and national parks, forests, mountains, deserts, farmland, orchards, rivers and streams). Can be in the form of oil, pen and ink, watercolor, printmaking, graphic design, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, crayon, encaustic, digitial drawing, or other appropriate 2D mediums.
-One entry per student.
-Work must be original and the work of one student and signed by the student.
-TCSD will advance the work of one student.
Award:  Awards range from $300-$5,000 (25 awards)

DANIELS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (Seniors)

Deadline:  November 30 (4:00 p.m.), 2016
Criteria:
-Graduating in 2016-2017 academic year from high schools in CO, NM, UT, or WY
-Complete FAFSA application for 2017-2018 (will need SAR & EFC numbers)
-Be a resident of CO, NM, UT, or WY
-Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S.
-Demonstrate financial need
-Earn an ACT composite score of 17 or higher with no component score (math, English, reading, science) lower than 17
Award:  Varies from student to student; renewable up to a maximum of 4 academic years (8 semesters or 12 quarters)
*This application take time to complete!  Do not wait until the last minute to apply.  See Miss Black in the Counseling Center for more information.

HOBY LEADERSHIP SEMINAR (Sophomores)

-sophomore at THS.
-submit application to Miss Black (no more than 2 typed pages).
-if you are chosen as a HOBY representative for THS, you will need to complete additional paperwork.
-attend HOBY Leadership Seminar.
Award:
eligibility to apply for HOBY scholarships your senior year.

USU EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP (Seniors)
Application: Educational Opportunity Scholarship Application

Deadline:  November 4, 2016 if you would like to interview on November 18 at Diversity Leadership Conference. Also can apply with no interview by January 10, 2017.
Criteria:
-Multicultural and First Generation students.
-Minimum of 103 index and 20 ACT or 940 SAT
-Demonstrate financial need.
-Applicants agree to us the scholarship in consecutive semesters, unless a deferment or leave of absence is requested (military service, medical considerations, or church service)
-Personal essay must accompany the application (1-2 pages, double-spaced)
-Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status
Award:  Range from $500 to full tuition (Can only be used at the USU Logan Campus)
REGENTS’ SCHOLARSHIP (Seniors)

(Application available on Nov. 15, 2016).
Deadline:  Dec. 9, 2016 (Priority Deadline), February 1, 2017 (Regular Deadline)
Criteria for Base Award:
-Complete the Utah Scholars Core Course of Study during grades 9-12.*
-Have a cumulative 3.0 high school GPA.
-Have at least one reported ACT test score (SAT is not accepted).
-Have no grade on official transcript lower than a “C” in core courses.
-Be a U.S. citizen, or a noncitizen eligible for federal student aid.
-No criminal record.
-Enroll full-time (12 or more college credit hours) at an eligible Utah institution of higher education during Fall semester immediately following high school graduation.
Criteria for Exemplary Academic Achievement Award:
-Must meet the Base Award requirements.
-Have a cumulative 3.5 GPA
-Have no grade on official transcript lower than a “B” in core courses.
-Have an ACT score of 26.
*Core Courses:
-4 credits of English
-4 progressive credits of mathematics
-3.5 credits of Social Science
-3 credits of lab-based Sceince course, specifically one each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics
-2 progressive credits of same World or Classical Language, other than English, during grades 9-12
Award: Base Award–$1,000 one-time payment
Exemplary Academic Achievement Award–$1,250 per semester for 4 semesters (amount based on decisions made in the Utah State Legislative Session)
