One of the most FAQ I get is, “Are there scholarships for juniors?”  The answer of course is “YES!”  There definitely aren’t as many scholarships available to juniors as there are for seniors, but they are out there.  An example:  Governor’s Honors Academy.  GHA combines a 9-day conference experience with a 4-year scholarship to SUU.  Double score!  Juniors, if you are interested in attending SUU and if you are interested in having college paid for, this is a scholarship opportunity you can not pass up.  More information:

College Representatives coming to THS

We have two different college representatives coming to THS in the coming weeks.

The first visit will be from USU. They will be here during both lunches on Wednesday, February 1st. If you are interested in attending USU or have any questions this would be a great time to get all the information needed.

The second visit will be with a representative from SUU. They will be here Thursday, Feb. 16th during both lunches. Any seniors who have been accepted to SUU are invited to stop by the table and collect your acceptance boxes.

Questions? See Miss Black in the counseling office.

SCHOLARSHIP ALERT!!! CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS AND TUITION AWARDS

True or False:  Scholarships are only available to students who are attending 4 year colleges or universities.  FALSE!!!

The CTE Scholarships offered through the Utah State Office of Education are some of the best scholarships out there, and they are offered specifically to students who are planning to attend two years or less of college or students who are planning to teach in a CTE area. The CTE Scholarships and Tuition Awards are for outstanding Career and Technical Education (CTE) students, and cover up to one year of tuition. Eligible applicants have a 1:2 odds of receiving an award. Would you spend four to five hours compiling a portfolio to receive well over $1,500? Do the math.  What is the potential hourly payback for preparing and applying?

The  funds for these awards come from various postsecondary institutions around the state, including the TATC in Tooele.  The approximate number of CTE scholarships offered from each institution follows in parenthesis. Please visit the CTE scholarship website for details about exact tuition award amounts and criteria for each institution (http://schools.utah.gov/cte/scholarships.html).
