SCHOLARSHIP ALERT!!!  HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP

Do you know who Horatio Alger, Jr. was?  You can find the answer here.  Basically, Horatio Alger believed that hard work, honesty and determination can conquer all obstacles.  In honor of his ideas, the Horatio Alger Association awards scholarships each year to students who have overcome adversity and are pursuing their own version of the American Dream.  If you have worked to overcome a serious obstacle while demonstrating integrity and determination, than make sure you apply for this scholarship.  It is a good one!

*I’m happy to report that last year, one of our own THS students was selected as a National Winner of the Horatio Alger Scholarship.  Amanda Carreau was awarded $21,000 for her college education at an awards ceremony in Washington D.C. this past spring.  She also enjoyed an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. which included amazing perks like tours, mentoring, a formal gown tailored to her exact measurements, incredible food and the opportunity to meet some really amazing people.  She is currently enjoying her first year as a college student at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and sends me updates from her new laptop, which was also part of her Horatio Alger Scholarship award. Read more about Amanda’s experience here.
