The HSF Scholarship Fund is designed to assist those with Hispanic Heritage obtain a college degree. These scholarships are available to:

  • High school seniors
  • Undergraduate students
  • Community college students transferring to a four year college or university
  • Graduate Students

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Deadline: March 30, 2018
Criteria: 
-Must be of Hispanic Heritage
-Minimum of 3.0
-Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, not for profit, 4 year university, or graduate school.
-U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or eligible non-citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
Award: $500 to $5,000 (based on merit and relative need among all the scholars)

Somos Foundation Scholarship

DESCRIPTION OF SCHOLARSHIP
The Utah Hispanic Business Leadership Foundation is a non-profit organization established to develop business leaders and improve business education and opportunities for Hispanic/Latino students and professionals.  The award is in recognition of academic and vocational achievement, demonstrated leadership in school, community or other service activities.  Applicants must also demonstrate a financial need.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 14, 2016

Qualifications
The applicant must:

  • Submit a complete application packet by October 14, 2016.
  • Must be in good standing and making satisfactory progress (as formally defined by the institution) toward the student’s program objective (degree, diploma, or certificate).
  • Be a student enrolled as a senior in high school, college or university, or vocational school in the state of Utah or has been recently admitted to an institution in Utah.
  • Have demonstrated leadership in school, community and/or other service organizations that promote, enhance or strengthen diversity.
  • Be living in Utah and of Hispanic/Latino descent

Scholarship Application Packets must contain:

  1. A completed and signed UHBLF (Somos) Scholarship Application with attached response to questions.  Please type your response to the following requested information on a separate sheet of paper and upload to our server. Be concise and limit your response to a total of two pages maximum.  Write a brief personal history that includes
    • Academic, professional, and personal goals.
    • Reasons why you feel you are a viable candidate for this scholarship.
    • Scholarly or vocational accomplishments, honors, special awards, or recognition you have received.
    • Community and school involvement; include leadership positions and/or activities.
    • Personal barriers/hardships you have had to overcome to achieve your educational goals.
  2.  A copy of applicant’s high school or college transcript.
  3. Two letters of recommendation.At least one letter from an individual qualified to judge your academic, leadership, and personal qualifications.Counselor or teacher recommended.

Scholarship Alert for Latino Students

If you are a Latino student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher – Here is a scholarship for you!

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund’s goal is to assist Latino students in applying for college, doing well in classes, graduating, gaining great jobs, being leaders in our nation, and mentoring the generations to come.

Award Amount:  $500 – $5,000, based on the student’s total financial aid package.

Qualifications:

  • Must be of Hispanic Heritage
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
  • Plan to enroll Full-Time in an accredited not-for -profit 4 year university or graduate school during FALL of scholarship cycle year
  • Complete FAFSA
  • Complete state Dream Act financial aid application (if applicable)
  • All majors and graduate fields accepted
  • Emphasis on STEM majors
  • Merit-based scholarships available for undergraduate and graduate students

Deadline:  April 24, 2015

Criteria:
-Hispanic senior at THS.
-Application, transcript, essay.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund General College Scholarships-2015

SCHOLARSHIP ALERT:  If you are a Hispanic student with a 3.0 GPA, apply for this scholarship NOW…it is due March 30, 2015.

HSF/ General College Scholarships are designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to graduating high school seniors, community college transfer students, undergraduate students,  and graduate students.  Awards: Range from $500 to $5,000.

HSF GENERAL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS (Seniors)
Deadline:  March 30, 2015
