SCHOLARSHIP ALERT:  PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS

If you are a student that loves to volunteer, make sure you apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award. This award recognizes students who have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service, and includes awards on a school, state and national level.  Awards range from Certificates of Achievement to $1,000, engraved medallions, and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C., as well as the opportunity to compete for a $5,000 scholarship.

Take note:  this is not a merit-based scholarship, so no GPA or ACT requirement!  And remember, that the school is part of your community so if you are in student government, participating on teams, a club member or leader, make sure you apply for this award.

PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY (Grades 5-12)

Deadline:  Nov. 4, 2014
Criteria:
-High school students who are making a difference through volunteerism.
-Legal resident of one of the 50 states of the United States or the District of Columbia.
-Must have engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred at least in part after September 1, 2013.
-Must complete an application and submit to Mrs. Cartwright or Mr. Gochis by November 4, 2014.
Award:  School–certificate
State–$1,000 & trip to Washinton, D.C. (2/state)
National–$5,000 (10/nation)
