SCHOLARSHIP ALERT: DETROIT DIESEL REMANUFACTURING–WEST SKILLED TRADES AWARD
You guys! This scholarship is amazing and I’m excited to let you know about it for so many reasons.
- Detroit Diesel is part of a global company with a local division that is working to benefit the citizens of Tooele County…and that includes YOU!
- Detroit Diesel is offering a scholarship to each of the local high schools. That means that a student at THS will win this scholarship!
- Detroit Diesel is doing amazing things in the Remanufacturing Industry, which includes all things green like recycling and reusing. After living in Oregon for 5 years, I’m a huge proponent of green living and love companies that are working to leave a smaller footprint on our earth.
- I was able to tour their manufacturing plant and was really impressed with the cleanliness, the employee knowledge, and the level of organization I found. I’ve never been in a manufacturing plant and was expecting a place where engines are rebuilt to be dirty and covered in grease. Not so! This place was amazing and I was fascinated with so many things…some of the parts they remanufacture are quite beautiful and would make great industrial art. They have even created a great bike that employees use to travel through the facility. Also, by the time we were finished I finally understood what my son-in-law does as a mechanical engineer, and I understood why he enjoys it so much. This stuff is cool!
I really cannot say enough great things about this company, but your primary interest is scholarships, so make sure you apply. This is a good one.
