Tooele High School is THRILLED to announce that Amanda Carreau has been recognized as one of only 106 high school seniors nationally, and one of only two students in Utah, to receive the Horatio Alger National Scholar Award. As a National Scholar, Amanda will receive the following:
- A $21,000 college scholarship for a bachelor’s degree.
- An all-expenses-paid trip to the 2014 Horatio Alger National Scholars Conference in Washington D.C., April 2-6, 2014.
- The opportunity to apply to one of group of selected colleges the Horatio Alger Association works with as their Collegiate Partners. These schools have agreed to match the Horatio Alger scholarship funds in order to reduce loan indebtedness.
- Access to support services such as mentoring, a 24-hour Support and Referral Line, free campus housing opportunities starting sophomore year, and financial aid counseling.
In addition to these amazing awards, Amanda receives some fun perks like a new formal dress, tailored to her exact measurements, to wear to the awards ceremony.
We are so excited for Amanda and know that she is going to do amazing things in life!
